Family Life Child Care Centers participated in Week of the Young Child 2016, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Week of the Young Child annually celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers and families. Each of our centers’ classrooms led special activities that corresponded with the NAEYC daily themes and activities.
The week kicked off with Music Monday where our children learned new dance move, listened to everything from classical to contemporary songs and played musical instruments. Taco Tuesday was a delicious day where our kids had the opportunity to create and eat savory and fruit tacos. Work Together Wednesday taught our children valuable collaboration skills as they learned worked together with a variety of projects. Artsy Thursday brought out the artists in our kids. Their masterpieces were beautiful! The week concluded with Family Friday which featured special activities that included the engaged the entire family unit, as families are at the heart of supporting our youngest learners. We had a pajama and pancake breakfast where our parents and children bonded; parents visited their child’s classroom to read books or engage in structured play time. Our kids even surprised our parents with special, homemade gifts! We are so encouraged to see the love our parents and children share for one another!
Our children engaged in fun and exciting learning opportunities, and pictures were shared every day on our social media pages. We encourage you to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to stay actively engaged in our future Family Life Child Care Center activities and events! We are looking forward to participating in the Week of the Young Child 2017. Stay tuned for more information as we approach April 2017, and check out the National Association for the Education of Young Children web site!
